What Refers to Type I Diabetes?
Type I Diabetes; also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a medical condition, where the pancreas makes little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone the body uses to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy. Different factors, such as genetics and some viruses, may cause type 1 diabetes. Although type 1 diabetes usually appears during childhood or adolescence, it can develop in adults.

Jonas said he first started experiencing symptoms when he was a teenager. In an interview with Beyond Type 1, a nonprofit he co-founded, he said he had chronically high blood sugar at the time, which may have made him irritable and lose weight.
“I had four signs that I was living with type 1 diabetes: excessive thirst, weight loss, frequent urination, and irritability. These can be recognized as common signs of type 1 diabetes. I’m sharing my signs so that others can #SeeTheSigns,”
