Health officials announced on Friday that an old male in the Bavdhan neighborhood of Maharashtra’s Pune district had tested positive for the Zika virus. The affected person, a resident of Nashik, came in Pune on November 6.


The patient arrived at Jahangir Hospital on November 16 with a fever, a cough, joint pain, and fatigue. He was diagnosed with Zika virus infection on November 18 by a private lab. The patient is currently clinically stable, according to the health department.
Maharashtra has received reports of the Zika virus, according to a formal notification from the state’s health department. In Bavdhan, Pune, a patient who was 67 years old was found. He is from Nashik and travelled to Surat on October 22 before arriving in Pune on November 6. He had contracted the Zika virus has been confirmed. The patient is currently clinically stable and problem-free.
The authorities have ordered an entomological search of Pune city for the Zika virus in order to stop further outbreaks. More investigation is being conducted in the city.
Notably, this is the third instance of the Zika virus in Maharashtra. In the past, a seven-year-old child in Maharashtra’s Palghar district was found to have the virus transmitted via mosquito bites. The first patient was found earlier, in July of the previous year in Pune.
After being discovered in a monkey in Uganda in 1947, the Zika virus first caused an epidemic there in 2007 before exploding in Latin America in 2015, especially in Brazil. It is caused by a virus that is primarily disseminated by the Aedes mosquito.

Some symptoms of the Zika virus include mild fever, rashes, conjunctivitis, discomfort in the muscles and joints, malaise, and headaches.
